Please note that VISAS are the responsibility of the traveller and Platinum Paradise Tours will not be held responsible for clients being denied entry should they not be in possession of the relevant VISAS.

VISA requirements vary depending on your nationality, make sure to contact the various embassies or VISA service agencies at least one month prior to departure to your tour destination.

Please note that all minors under the age of 18 are required to produce an unabridged birth certificate with the particulars of both parents when entering or exiting  South Africa. In cases where the unabridged birth certificate is in a language other than English ensure that it is accompanied by a sworn translation issued by a competent authority in the country concerned. Platinum Paradise Tours will not be held responsible for this documentation, it is the responsibility of the client to ensure their children have the appropriate documentation. All minors under the age of 18 are to be accompanied by their parent or guardian. No unaccompanied minors will be allowed to travel with Platinum Paradise Tours.

Your passport should be valid for a period of at least 6 months after your departure date from South Africa. Please ensure your passport has at least two free pages for your VISAS. Please ensure that your passport documentation is in order as this is your personal responsibility. Platinum Paradise Tours takes no responsibility for any passport costs or any inconvenience caused by incorrect documentation.

Please make sure that you purchase adequate medical insurance before departing for your trip. We will require the details of the insurance policy before you depart on your trip. Some of our destinations are located in remote areas, which may require you to be airlifted out in case of emergency. Please make sure that your medical insurance will cover this. Platinum Paradise Tours will not be held liable for any medical emergency which you might experience while on tour. Before booking any adrenaline sports such as bungee jumping or sky diving, please check whether your medical insurance covers this, as many policies don’t.

Some travellers might require hepatitis, rabies, cholera or yellow fever vaccines and malaria tablets may also be required. If you have been in a yellow fever infected area you will be required to have a yellow fever vaccination before entering South Africa. It is your responsibility to ensure you have the correct vaccinations for the area to which you are travelling to. Visit your nearest travel clinic for information on which vaccines are necessary for your trip.

Platinum Paradise Tours makes every effort to stick to the itineraries with which you are provided. Please bear in mind that there will be occasions especially with air charter where we might be delayed due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. In this instance Platinum Paradise Tours will do what is best in the interest of safety. We do apologise for any inconvenience caused and will do our best to make alternative arrangements to ensure you enjoy your trip with us.

Please keep in mind that aircraft have both weight and space limitations. We kindly ask that you pack no more than 10kg of luggage per person. And to pack your luggage in bags that will fit into our aircraft baggage compartments. Only pack your luggage in back packs and duffel bags. Avoid any suitcases or bags with a solid frame as these might not fit into our baggage compartments.

In the interest of safety you will not be allowed to take more than 10kg of baggage onto the aircraft, should you be overweight you will have to leave the excess weight behind. Please also keep hand luggage to a minimum as space is limited in the cabin. No more than 5kg of hand luggage will be allowed on board. Please stick to these guide lines to avoid disappointment.

A money belt is a good way to carry important documents. Always make sure that you keep your valuables on you at all times, do not leave them lying around in the open. Due to high levels of poverty petty theft is common.

Always be vigilant when traveling throughout South Africa as it has its potential dangers. Make sure your valuables are enclosed in the safe’s provided in your hotel room, or keep your valuables with you at all times. Always travel in a group, especially at night.

Make sure the areas you are traveling to are safe and do not behave recklessly. Platinum Paradise Tours it’s agents, employees or operators will not be held liable for any theft or loss of personal possessions. Comprehensive travel insurance for personal belongings is advisable.

Please inform Platinum Paradise Tours of any medical conditions or health concerns before booking your trip to ensure that you are medically fit enough to go on the trip. Platinum Paradise Tours will not be held responsible for any health emergencies.

It is your responsibility to ensure that you are medically fit to travel and inform our staff of any medical concerns you might have in an effort to resolve the issue.

Most hotels and lodges will have a basic first aid kit available. However it is advisable for you to bring a personal medical kit.

We suggest the following items:

  • Sunblock and After sun
  • Band-Aids
  • Anti-septic cream
  • Insect Repellent
  • Lip Balm
  • Moisturiser
  • Pain Killers
  • Anti-histamine cream or tablets
  • Anti-diarrhoea remedy

The tap water in South Africa is not always fit for human consumption. If you are unsure of whether the water is fit for consumption please ask a staff member or feel free to call us at Platinum Paradise Tours.

Bottled water is available to purchase at most camp sites and hotels. It can be expensive to purchase bottled water and this will be for your own expense unless stated otherwise in your tour information.

South Africa widely accepts the South African Rand (ZAR) as well as US Dollars.

The currency converter on this website should be used as a guideline only as currencies fluctuate regularly.

There are certain instances where cash may be required in South Africa as card facilities may not be available. Please ensure that you have sufficient cash on you to cover your expenses.

US Dollars and South African Rand are widely accepted. If your bank issues you with US Dollars please ensure the bills are in good condition as they may not be accepted if they are torn or severely creased.

If you plan on tipping staff ensure that the bank provides you with a wide range of bills so you can use the smaller ones for tipping.

Credit/Debit cards are widely accepted throughout South Africa. Most facilities in South Africa accept VISA, MASTERCARD, AMERICAN EXPRESS and DINERS.

Please be aware that there will likely be a surcharge for using the facility. Should you wish to withdraw money using your Credit/Debit card from an ATM, make sure that the card has a chip and a pin. Don’t forget to advise your bank that you will be travelling, as they may block your card if they are not made aware.

Please ensure that all trips are paid in full at least 30days prior to departure. Should trips be booked within 30days of departure they must be paid in full upon booking. Bookings cancelled 14days prior to departure are subject to a 50% cancellation fee.

All bookings cancelled 7days or less prior to departure will be subject to a 100% cancellation fee. We reserve the right to cancel a booking if payment is not received in full and you will not be allowed to depart on tour until the payment is received.

All persons are required to comply with the laws and regulations of the country through which we travel. Platinum Paradise Tours takes no responsibility should you be found in possession of illegal substances or contravening any laws of the country.

Any person found contravening any laws of the country may be asked to leave their tour immediately with no refund. Please also respect the customs and cultures of the country you are traveling in as you are a guest in the country.

When on a game drive with our local partners please respect and abide by their rules to ensure your safety and the safety of those around you while on tour. Please remember that when you are on a game drive/walk there is no guarantee how many or which kind of animal you will see. Our partners do their best to ensure that you see as much wildlife as possible while on tour and they have extensive knowledge about the area.

When on a game walk/drive in an open 4 x 4 vehicle please follow the instructions of your guide. Try not to make too much noise or sudden movements, which could potentially scare off the animals. Dress warm on early morning or evening drives and bring binoculars if you have any.
